Should you do your wedding planning during coronavirus?

Editorial note: we wrote this article during the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020. Many businesses have been forced to close while we wait out the spread of this virus.

Social distancing and uncertainty can clearly have an effect on any type of event planning, in particular a wedding. While many Long Island and NYC residents are following the restrictions of staying home, brides and grooms are exploring how realistic it is to plan a wedding during coronavirus.

Others, still, are having to cancel or postpone their wedding. It’s easy to understand how disappointing it is to have to tell family and friends that all of the work that went into planning is being put on hold.

But with venues and vendors closed, our wedding planner friends are telling us that coronavirus COVID-19 has created an impossible situation for weddings to take place. Even destination weddings are at risk because of travel restrictions.

We need to remember that this will pass.

Like many difficult times in life, this will pass. We’ll return to normal and people will start gathering again. Wedding vendors will reopen and your wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses will still fit. Your family members and wedding guests will once again be able to celebrate with you on your wedding date. And we’re excited for that to happen.

And because of this, we highly recommend that you do your wedding planning during coronavirus. We understand that it might be difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it will be there and starting your wedding planning now will make things easier for you in the future.

Plus, if you are like the many people who are stuck at home, you probably have a little more time on your hands. You can put that time to good use.

How to start wedding planning during coronavirus

Things certainly are different during this pandemic. Even though many authorities, government, and the Center for Disease Control has us locked down, many wedding planners and consultants are still working remotely.

So, if you are planning on using a wedding planner, it’s nearly certain that they will be available and working from home. Start there with a phone call to get things rolling.

And speaking of rolling, your wedding transportation is another wedding planning element that you can organize from home. We are here and available to assist you with wedding transportation and the luxury transport of you, your bridal party, family, friends and your wedding guests from location to location.

We continue to take bookings for weddings that will take place once the coronavirus pandemic has subsided and we are allowed to leave our homes and move about our cities and towns again.
